Murchison Falls National Park and Lake Mburo are the only parks in Uganda where sport fishing is permitted. Fishing along the Nile River presents ideal opportunities of catching the huge Nile perch fish along the rocky surfaces and the banks of the Nile fronting the bottom of the Murchison falls.
Sport fishing in Murchison falls National Park is quite rewarding for the avid angler. There are great opportunities to land a large Nile Perch "mputa" or Cat-fish "semutundu". Other fish include Tiger fish, Electric cat-fish, Tilapia, "Ngara" (Genus Alestes). The record largest Nile Perch was 113 Kgs landed at at the water gauge opposite the crocodile pool, and the largest cat-fish was 45 Kgs landed near the Nyamusika Cliffs
Sport Fishing in Murchison Falls National Park can be conducted throughout the year by Uganda safari undertakers and is ideally done when the water levels are a bit low and clear. This always occurs in Mid – January to Early April.

After an early morning breakfast, our driver will pick you up from the hotel and set off for a 6hours drive to Murchison falls through amazing landscapes and sceneries. After 3 hours drive, you will have a lunch stopover in Masindi before you embark on the last league of the journey. On arrival after checking in your hotel, head to the bottom of the falls and enjoy fishing the whole afternoon- this takes approximately 3 hours. It is pure fun and joy with the big catch of the Nile perch in the dramatic pools at the base of the falls. After head to the lodge, have dinner and an overnight.
After a tasty breakfast, go fishing by boat along the Nile River at the base of the magnificent Murchison falls, here you can catch Nile perch, catfish among other species. On this day you will spend the whole day catching fish or do it half day and go for a hike to the top of the mighty falls; this is a memorable experience. While on this boat you will also enjoy viewing the vegetation and wildlife found in the park such as the hippos, elephants, buffaloes, Nile crocodiles, birds among others.
To have a meaningful Game Drive, you need to take a morning Game Drive, that starts at 6am, here you will be able to see the Big Cats, and buffaloes, antelopes, waterbucks, warthogs, elephants among others and all other animals available in the Park as they wake for BreakFast as well. The morning Game Drive, will take approximately 3-4 hours. After the game drive, you will proceed to the hotel for BreakFast, pack your bags ready to head for Kampala
